The fuel flow sensor is a device for measuring the amount of fuel that has passed through the fuel system and entered the engine. A measuring chamber is installed inside the flow meter. Fuel enters the flow meter and rotates the chamber ring. One revolution of the ring is equivalent to the flow of fuel, the volume of which is equal to the capacity of the measuring compartment. As a result, the device generates a pulse.

The equipment is installed on the fuel line in front of the diesel supply system to the engine. The design of the flow sensor includes blades inside the cylinder and a system for counting their rotations. The pulses are transmitted to a counter, which determines their total number, and converts the indicator into a coded signal. The data is transmitted by the GPS tracker to the monitoring system and the software displays the amount of fuel consumed by the engine during the period of interest.

An in-line flow sensor is a mechanical device that measures the direct fuel consumption of a vehicle engine. It has the same principle of operation as a household water and gas meter. The water meter is determined in a similar way, but its body is not so resistant to aggressive factors, which include gasoline and diesel.

Flowmeters are available in one and two chambers. A single-chamber one takes into account 1 fuel flow, but does not "see" a reverse flow, through which unused fuel flows back into the tank. Suitable for plunger motors.

Direct fuel meters are single-chamber devices made of aluminum alloy, with characteristics of increased hardness, as well as an anti-friction coating of the measuring chamber. All devices are tested on test equipment. There are models of flow meters equipped with a temperature sensor. These modifications are able to correct information about the amount of fuel if the fuel temperature changes. Thus, the flow meter gives more accurate readings, regardless of the operating conditions of the equipment.

Double-chamber flow meters Eurosens Delta

Delta meter models are dual chamber devices. Its other name for the device is a differential fuel flow sensor. Since many power units have a return line, with the help of which the diesel is returned to the tank, the most accurate monitoring of the amount of fuel will be to measure its volume both in the main and in the return line. Otherwise, it is necessary to redo the fuel supply system for the Direct meter model. If such changes are not possible, the Delta series is mounted. Additionally, with this model of the device, a deaerator can be installed, which effectively cleans the fuel system from air. Without this procedure, it is not possible to accurately measure the volume of fuel.
